Pepita Mwanga
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE: POETRY / SPOKEN WORD
Pepita Mwanga is a spoken word poet, lawyer, and international development practitioner based in the UK. She writes and performs at the intersection of the personal and the political, exploring womanhood, identity, migration, mental health, and social justice. She is endorsed by Arts Council England as a Global Talent in Literature and was a Creative Edinburgh Awards 2025 finalist.
In her performance of ‘Add Women and Stir’ at the 2026 Holistic Wellbeing Summit, Pepita explores what it really means to include women in systems built without them. The poem takes its title from a critique within the Women in Development framework in gender studies.
The piece looks at a pattern familiar across workplaces and policy: women added to existing structures, expected to adapt, while the structures themselves stay untouched, or take too long to catch up. Commissioned for the Holistic Wellbeing Summit’s theme of navigation and intersectionality, Add Women and Stir asks its audience not just to witness fragmentation, but to reimagined wholeness.
